Meet the New A Novel Idea Cohort

Every great bookstore is built on the passion and dedication of the people behind the business. At A Novel Idea, we're thrilled to introduce our newest cohort of team members who are bringing fresh energy and diverse perspectives. These talented individuals are gaining hands-on experience managing our online bookstore while building valuable skills that they can take into their future careers.

Learning Through Real-World Experience

Our workforce development program is designed to provide meaningful, paid work experience in a supportive environment. Cohort members work directly with our online operations, handling everything from inventory management and order fulfillment to customer communications and digital marketing. They're not just learning theory—they're applying practical skills every single day in a real business setting.

Building Skills for the Future

Each participant in our cohort brings their own background and aspirations. Through their time with A Novel Idea, they're developing professional competencies, learning industry best practices, and discovering where their strengths lie. Whether it's writing their first resume, mastering e-commerce platforms, or honing communication skills, our program equips them with tools they'll carry into their next opportunity.

Supporting Long-Term Success

Our commitment extends beyond the program itself. We work closely with each cohort member to identify their career goals and connect them with resources and opportunities that align with their ambitions. The relationships built and skills gained during their time with us become the foundation for their professional growth.

The Team

Each individual brings a unique perspective and is stepping into this experience with a focus on building skills, gaining hands-on experience, and exploring future opportunities.

Kamea enjoys reading autobiographies and mystery books. She has been focused on gaining experience across different parts of the e-commerce bookstore.

Harvey often leans toward manga books and is eager to soak up more information on running a business.

Michael tends to be drawn to graphic novels and is happy to be gaining his first workplace experience.

Brenda is interested in reading more fiction and has particularly enjoyed learning the nuances of book processing.

Makiaha has been especially interested in non-fiction and romance novels. She is looking forward to the work readiness sessions.

We're grateful for the energy and dedication this cohort brings to A Novel Idea every day.
